Refomed FW 2026 "LABOR REFORMED"

July 18, 2026

“A study of posture, movement, and traces accumulated through work. Shapes formed by repeated gestures become part of the garment itself,” as stated in the dissertation on Refomed’s website. With his new Fall/Winter 2026 collection, Yoshiki Ando continues to create warm, delicate garments that impress while establishing Refomed as an emerging force within Japan’s design world.

Inspired by his grandfather’s wardrobe, Ando draws from the workwear his grandfather wore while running a plastering business. These garments left a lasting impression on him, and Refomed has continued to observe the authentic clothing worn by craftsmen on-site, the wear and tear created through their labor, and even memories of break times at the worksite. Together, these details form the foundation of Ando’s designs.

Fast-forward to the new Fall/Winter 2026 collection, and Ando has clearly evolved and refined his craft through the pieces presented this season. While remaining grounded in his roots by reinterpreting vintage workwear, military uniforms, and traditional clothing through elegant silhouettes, he has also introduced several distinctive ideas. One example is a comfortable-looking parka that appears to have been constructed from an old, hand-sewn rug. Another is a uniquely shaped black jacket that feels like something Howl from Howl’s Moving Castle would have hanging in his closet.

On the other hand, Ando also explores a more refined and sophisticated direction through the cotton collared shirts and straight-cut trousers styled on the models. The greatest standout of the collection, however, is its color palette. Ando’s colors have always been relaxing to look at. Nothing feels too sharp or overly bright. Instead, every shade feels balanced and easy on the eye.

His ability to blend sophistication with casual clothing is another highlight of the collection. Through his reinterpretation of vintage workwear, Ando continues to develop an aesthetic that perfectly balances class and casual wear, making the garments suitable for nearly any occasion.

Overall, this collection impressed me, and I continue to be excited to see the creative force that Ando and Refomed are becoming.
